The problem we as human beings have is a thing called anchoring.
This is essentially where we are transfixed on a high or low point and will always use this point as a comparison.
I get this with my clients and investment values - it doesn’t matter what is happening in the world some of them cannot get their heads around the fact their pension was once worth £x amount.
If taxes get hiked to match European levels the pushback will be huge for this reason.
