iran have spent the last 20 years preparing for a defensive war against the usa

not just them but also a war against israel and largely saudi arabia. In all 3 cases they realised that needed to do the same job, overwhelm enemy air defence so that they can later on degrade the enemies military infrastructure.

they do have some expensive air defence missile systems but not enough. what they do have and have spent 20 years focussing on is long barreled air defence artillery and shaheed drones and lots of them. they plan on expending these low-cost assets to exhaust their enemies limited and hugely expensive air defence missiles. what they also have learnt is to bunker their assets deep and shoot and scoot back underground. sure they will get taken out systematically by million dollar great big beautiful BOMBS! but they have also learnt to bunkerise production facilities as well as firing platforms.

israel is currently squawking on the back channels for inteceptor missiles as they are already low in stock after their dust up with hamas and ukraine has drained resources elsewhere. same goes for the usa who are now frantically scrabbling about trying to boost their arms manufacturing sector. the irony is that this is exactly what trump and his cronies made europe do after they pulled 🇺🇲 support for european military security at the start of the trump second term.

israel's problem is it is a small highly populated condensed target, you could lob anything explodey in and chances are it will explode near something military. iran on the other hand is massive and so you'd need to bung a shed load of explodey s**t there to do the same strategic damage.
