Sorry I've lost track of the point you are trying to make. From reading the article it

states that a muslim controlled local district council passed a neutrality resolution which among other things banned the flying of the Pride flag on government buildings. It points out that this was welcomed by white christian conservatives, and that other district councils around the US run by white christian conservatives have done the same. I presume if people were sacked it was because they were government employees who flouted the new local statute.
