But overall VAR has not improved decision making or fairness.

In many cases it has just shifted the location of the decision not improved it. There are still errors, nearly every week. And decisions take longer, which is not an improvement.

Hawkeye is different, more comparable to SAOT which, if it works, could be fine. VAR in tennis would mean that someone in a bunker rewatches a point for five minutes to see if there was an infringement of some kind, before relaying it back to the umpire. I think we could agree that would be a nonsenses, especially for the paying crowd.
