Much harder to say if the manager is over or under performing.

The biggest factor in success is recruitment.
A manager or coach doesn't choose most of the players they have and the budget they have.

A team could have spent a fortune on players and it appears the manager is underperforming.
Knapper is convinced we underperformed last season.
How much was on JHT and how much was on recruitment under performing the budget.

Time will tell, while I don't think JHT is blameless, I'm not convinced we spent the money well.
The amount of money we spent on Crnac and Jurasek could have bought a lot of quality players at the EFL level.
