You just need to look at the Prem to see the current football meta. Very fit, very physical and well organised team that are not necessary that pretty on the eye all the time, but are very effective. Brentford, Fulham, Palace in the "mid tier" clubs. Most of the top clubs really apart from Man City who still tippy tap it, newcomer top clubs like Newcastle. Defend first, s**t house, keep it tight, cynical fouls, play direct when you attack and rely on pace.

The answer is right in front of us, and it's not peak Barcelona tiki taka.
