Southampton finished 4th and went up in a very poor Championship season and, like us, were very poor even when winning. Heck, even we finished 6th and were abysmal. There’s a reason Southampton are where they’re at this season - they’re just not very good.
Also, I don’t think we need another manager who likes to play from the back. That’s all well and good when your defenders can defend but, traditionally, Norwich have ALWAYS had a ropey defence. Aside from Mackay and Fleming, I can’t think of any defenders at Norwich who haven’t been error prone, even at the height of our success. We’ve always shipped goals - which is why our best seasons have been where we’ve had a gung-ho approach and the freedom to score more than we inevitably let in, from any playing position. I don’t think that’s Martin’s thing.
