You can't have a team getting worse and worse over such a long period of time.

Add in to that the fact that the squad have clearly given up - they no longer believed what he was trying to do was going to work. Add to that the discipline issues. The lack of organisation. The lack of game intelligence. The fact that the same problems kept emerging all season and they were never fixed.

I really wanted JHT to work, but on pretty much any dimension you care to pick, it wasn't, and things have been getting worse and worse not better.

Why would anyone then invest this crucial summer period in a person with such a lacklustre body of work? He had to go.
