FWIW at the presser Hoff mentioned we have...

Been offloading a lot of players on higher wages so I don't think we are paying anyone top money currently.

I'm OK with not being successful if we had no money but we have spent vastly more than a lot of teams in the champs to finish in a much lower position.

We have always done well as a club in selling players for absolute top dollar but have frankly been poor when we spend big money.
Some of the big buys don't look well researched or a bit chancy.

We apparently spent around 16M on two players who have not been difference makers at this level.

I feel in the past we have brought in at least 4-6 players for that kind of money making the squad much deeper.

I don't think people understand how the 5 sub rule makes having deep squads so much more effective.

You literally have the ability to change 50% of your outfield team.

We have tremendous amounts of data in various professional sports of playing off short rest and travel. (HINT: Professional gamblers used this first!)

This again plays into squad depth and managing the quality of minutes in a 46 game season where a lot of games are played off short recovery.

All the facts can be narrowed down to the fact I'm worried we have inexperienced people pissing away the money.
Hopefully we do catch lightening in a bottle, signing a few good players at the same time a number of youth players break through to the first team squad.
Realistically that is our only hope of success.
