And much better technically than Stiepermann I think.
But hey, he's 18. We've all seen teenagers who look extremely talented and end up at Port Vale, and we've all seen them look like they will never make it and then turn into Harry Kane.
I am not going to judge the signings and potential of players like Crnac, Schwartau, Jurasek, (hopefully) Wright and perhaps even Chrisene and Fisher yet. Let them have a summer off, see who we can bring in around them so they can focus on their role and not trying to compensate for others, and then judge them over the course of next season if they are all still with us.
However, the more experienced players like Slimane and Marcondes - yes I get that they filled apparently un-anticipated gaps created by the departures of Rowe and Kamara when the time was short and the availability of replacements very tough and so Hoff went for a couple of guys he knew and who knew his system (Marcondes at least).
But I cannot understand why he then extended Slimane. The guy is never a first choice midfielder at Championship level. If they offer a new deal to Marcondes I would feel the same way - I think I would rather we took those wages and used them on a gamble of another talented youngster OR a safe, solid , unspectacular experienced midfielder if we want somebody to calm the youngsters. Marcondes is certainly not that type of experienced player.
And as for Long's contract extensions. Well. I see more sense in Americans bringing Trump back.
