I really really hope you are right

Another scenario is we lose Sarge and Sainz (possibly Nunez), recruit overpriced, lightweight European players (again), and struggle to replace the goals while continuing to have a leaky defence, resulting in a lower mid-table finish.

Again, I much prefer your optimistic viewpoint!
