We were awful until Rooney and Lennon came on. Suddenly we had a threat from the wing and some movement up front and passes became a bit sharper and a bit quicker - the Rooney effect I suspect. However, it looked like we switched to three at the back with Gerrard playing in between defence and midfield - not a formation that we'll get away with against anyone else I suspect (unless we played 3 genuine centre backs perhaps). Even then we weren't excellent in my opinion - merely fairly good - a suggestion of how good we might be when Rooney is fully fit and with some other threat than Beckham swinging them into the box from 30 yards.
Still a win's a win. Rather have Germany in the next round - the way they're going at games will suit us I think.
