If only it were that simple

However this does open up the opportunity for a few Europeam companies with some massive investment to develop alternatives, with a far greater likelihood of adoption than pre-Trump. However that would take a lot of time and money and any such developments would have to be seriously vetted to ensure no nefarious back doors to other rival states as well (I’d certainly be exploring my options in this area under the guise of Western European startup if I were Russia or China).

You can’t currently replace office 365, Azure, AWS like for like with European alternatives, giving those as just three examples. Even successful applications based in Europe are integrated with Google, Apple, MS or Amazon cloud storage, location services, etc.

And then what are we going to do? Use these new Big tech free services on our Windows or Apple operating systems? For mobile devices is there a viable European operating system to avoid Android or iOS?

I don’t think anybody is going to be happy to switch their MacBook for a Linux laptop running the extremely dated Libre Office on its cumbersome Java Runtime, let alone employers.
