It's the trickle-down effect

It means that our best talent - the Godfreys, the Buendias - can be poached by mid-ranking sides (who will spend to try to keep up)

It means that fans will never expect a result against the big sides (our last win v Arse? our last win v Liverpool?)

It cheapens the lure of the PL, as we are only competing against 14 other sides.

If you think that the direction of travel for football is a good thing then you ain't no fan *my* football.
