I interviewed an individual for a job. He had the right qualifications, excellent Uni credentials, name dropped like fury, spoke three languages and was an all round impressive package. Two weeks after starting he pulled off a fantastic sale that netted us a large profit. Six months after that we fired him. It was clear that the first trade had been a pure fluke. It then became painfully obvious that despite having an almost perfect CV, he just couldn't hack it when the going got tough. He lasted six months on the basis of that one trade and the names he was able to speak to. A disturbingly similar scenario to our current management problems. And a lesson in recruitment that I never forgot!!
