I think he might be more of a known quantity as he has previously played in the Champs

Whittaker isn’t a bad player, but his historical goal record is not exceptional to put it mildly.
Jurasek carries risk in that he could be far better or he could fail to adapt.
The club are prepared to take that risk in exchange for a potentially better player for their cash and also the potential resale value.
