The balance is about risk vs reward.
The way we play has advantages.
(1) We score lots of goals
(2) Its entertaining so coaches get more time
(3) It inflates the goal scoring records of our players because they will get more opportunities to score than say at Sheff Utd or Burnley, making the player worth more in the transfer market...
The problem is...
(1) We concede too many goals with this open style
(2) Makes it almost impossible to grind out wins once you have lead (see how many points dropped from good positions)
(3) Sheff Utd and Burnley will probably get promoted scoring less goals than us.
Other teams are proving the way to success (promotion) is a far more pragmatic approach.
If we play one style you also become predictable.
Wilder owned us. People don't want to hear it but he forced numerous chances vs our back 4 and we didn't have a shot on target. He said that was his exact game plan.
