The US pardon system is bonkers

So Biden has "pre-emptively" pardoned a bunch of people in case Trump weaponises the DoJ and pursues them for federal crimes which in Biden's view they did not commit but Trump would like some payback and some political capital and so on and so forth. The MAGA view and the Dem view on the cases against Trump and the potential "revenge" cases couldn't be further apart.

It's all bollocks, on both sides, frankly.

Trump is now in the position Biden was: he will never have to stand before an electorate again so more or less can use the most powerful office in the Western world to do more or less as he pleases without fear of accountability. Even legal accountability since the Supreme Court he bought last time has said the law doesn't apply to him.

There's plenty wrong with our courts system but the issues pale into insignificance compared with what goes on in the US.
