I don’t think the recruitment policy is a mess

I think the reality is that if you continue to sell your best players and try to replace them with cheaper, young players, where you’re paying for their potential, unless you get very lucky, the squad will be consistently downgraded.

Fundamentally, it comes back to budget; absent parachute payments, it’s tough to compete in the championship.

Webber, for all his well earned criticism, did extremely well with recruitment before it then reverted back to the norm of consistent downgrades.
