I received a letter today (addressed to me by name, at my home address) from a firm of loss adjusters about a motor collision last month. This was news to me, as I haven't been in a collision.
I queried this with them; they have provided details of the vehicle which I was supposedly driving, and said that the insured party has given them my details as apparently I purchased the vehicle from them the month before. None of this is true; I don't know anything about the vehicle (certainly, I've never owned it), whilst I've also never heard of the insured party (they gave me the person's title and surname).
I'm a little bit concerned that I might have been dragged into something here with which I have no involvement but that perhaps may involve some sort of ID theft or insurance fraud. Has anyone ever experienced anything similar and is able to offer any insight? Thanks.
