Honestly though the fact they’re going through this just as literally everybody apart from them predicted they would really is sad. What we did under Lambert was a major achievement it was extremely hard for a promoted team to stay up then. It’s harder now and the PL is essentially a closed shop of Top Few plus perennial drain circlers only saved from relegation by whichever cannon fodders gone up from the chumps.
It’s been said so often (by me and lots and lots of others) that it feels like a lazy observation but if the top six or whoever just f**ked off into a superduperleague(tm) the rest of English football would be (a) financially worse off but (b) much much much better for those of us who enjoy the game.
I guess any sporting event is also an entertainment product at the end of the day but the way the PL has pushed everything to maximising financial returns to the few has ruined the game.
