Well. This is the thing. Southgate tried a similar style. It asks the

opposition to press high, and then we play out of it and break fast. And yes we have the players for that, as did England.

Except when they stop pressing you high and press you in midfield instead and let your defenders have the ball because that’s who they want playing the passes.

And when you don’t have a centre forward who can hold up a direct pass it gets very difficult to change up.
