However it would be nice to think Sven knows how important he is, and wouldn't risk him if he wasn't confident he would be OK.

Personally I think he's in pretty good shape. You can ignore Man U's opinion - their comments are just to prepare for a possible lawsuit against the FA if he DOES get injured again (they wouldn't stand much chance if they said he was OK to play!). They don't tell you anything about his actual medical condition.
