Lampard and Gerrard simply cannot play together

and have never both played well for England in the same match.

In fact, neither of them very often play well for England full stop.

Sir Alf Ramsay always said that he doesn't always play his best players but he plays his best team. It just seems that some players are undroppable. A good manager would pick between the two and then find another player who complements them well.

But it should have been done months ago and it may be too late now.
