You need 3:1 liquid:oats ratio

Old McGit’s failsafe porridge, recipe from Phyllis my father’s nanny:

2 x cups boiling water
1 x cup cold full fat milk
1 x cup oats, scatter the oats into the liquid and stir like a bastard while you do, to prevent lumps
Salt
Once bubbling turn down to simmer
Return in minutes 20
