You are reducing a whole load of complexity to a simple binary

Football outcomes are clearly a combinaton of managers AND players, plus a load of other stuff (i.e. money).

You can make the argument that managers are over-rated, and maybe they are overall, but there is no doubt that a significant number of managers have a significant effect in certain contexts. Otherwise, you appear to be saying that all managers are effectively the same.

Plus your comparison doesn't take into account that we sold €40 million of talent in the summer, including arguably our best two players.
