just turned our backs and left a mad murdering despot and his 2 psychotic looney sons to get on with the destruction of another million lives.
Frankly, your 20/20 hindsight is breathtaking in it's naievity. He used WMDs against his own people, and at the time EVERY SINGLE NATION including the Chermans and the cheese eating surrender monkey Frogs were being told by THEIR OWN INTELLIGENCE SERVICES that Saddam still had WMDs.
Just because Blick and a few roaming searchers had not actually found them meant diddly squat at the time. It is a huge area, and hiding relatively small stuff like chemical weapons would be, frankly, piss easy.
At the time we joined the USA (remember them ? We like to think of ourselves as their allies since they laid down their lives to help save us in 2 world wars) opinion polls in the UK were running STRONGLY in favour of getting Saddam out, via an invasion of Iraq.
Oh, how the sham, gutless British public have shown themselves in their true colours since. Every terrorist bomb brings a few more to the fore to scream 'I told you so - Blair is a liar'. Pathetic. Pitiful and quite honestly sick making.
The Lib Dems were the only politicians against it from the start, not based on facts, but that their membership is made up mainly from tree hugging anti-war Graudian readers. They could not afford to alienate their support, so came up with the brilliant idea that we should do nothing.
Who cares that Iraquis were being boiled alive in oil, that the mass graves were being filled as fast as they could be dug ? Not the Lib Dems. We should stay here, make supportive noises from the sideline to Saddam, condemn those nasty imperialist Yanks and enjoy life.
And that seems to be where the majority of the British people seem to stand today.
I am ashamed of them.
