I still think the first Prem season was the killer

that was when we had all the momentum, and we had a squad full of talented and fearless players. The lack of investment, because of a misguided commitment to a five year plan, compounded by Farke abandoning what made us successful, lost us the best opportunity.

By the time we got promoted for the second time, we had sold Buendia and Godfrey, while the remaining squad and manager were both scarred from the previous experience. The momentum had already been lost.
