I think you don't want to get rid of ALL of it. In my worst gym rat phase I had almost all muscle there and a couple of blokes told me it wasn't nice. So to please the punters I think it's better not to go the total flat belly route. A little curve is nice, but it must be firm and smooth.

If you really want to get rid (and obviously any overhang is a no-no) then it's diet (strict carb curfew works for me) as much as exercise. And I have found Pilates is BRILLIANT at giving you a longer leaner shape.
