It's not an unreasonable comment to be fair

Not all work environments have the same consequences on the individual for getting something wrong. I think that's the point.

In mine no amount of training and preparation can guarantee an apprentice doesn't put a decimal point in the wrong place and do 10k of damage to a machine or find themselves minus a couple of fingers once they're left on their own.

In another job someone might serve a latte instead of a cappuccino, or put a spelling mistake on a web page. Which is easy to fix and has no significant consequences.
