We don't need the work experience person to come up with something - get the professionals in, draft something to make it clear that this is not how the club operates, and give proven examples that show the club's inclusiveness. And apologise, either directly or indirectly for what was said by someone who, ex or nearly ex or not ex, has very strong ties with the club.
