why are dead people referred to as "deceased" when in reality they have literally "ceased"

well my little snub nosed web footed poppycock the word "deceased" is taken from Middle English "deceas" via Old French terminology from the Latin dēcessus (“departure”), equivalent to dēced-, variation of dēcēdō, dēcēdere (“to go away”).
