Its because the way we play only works when we play at full tempo/on front foot

As soon as they ease off or stop being positive going forward, we start making errors and we put ourselves under pressure. And we don't really have a single defender who is very good at actually defending. Dimi and Stacey are in the "better going forward than defending" category, Hanley has been a complete liability since he came back and we never manage to mark properly with that back four.

We cannot contain and we cannot play at low tempo without gifting the opposition chances. The formation also means many games become end to end slug fests and we never have complete control over the tempo of a game. Ironically last night for the first half an hour we did although we were starting to ease off and make some mistakes in the 10 minutes before the red card.
