football quality was utter sh*t though

I'd seen enough World Cups by then that I could appreciate that. My first was Germany 74 and that was probably a bit crap too, but to me it was so new and exotic then (just seeing live football on TV was incredibly rare, let alone involving foreign teams) that it seemed magical.
