he missed an amazing opportunity to unite everyone and also garner sympathy.
Its understandable he was emotional after a whirlwind game.

He could have said something like.

"I was disappointed by the fan reaction, we need everyone to pull in the same direction. Even if you dont like my decisions please support the players while we are playing"

"I made the subs because both Sarge and Onel are carrying injuries and I want them available for Saturday and the run in"

"We need you, we need every single one of you to help us over the line"
"Most of you remember that amazing day at Wembley a few years ago.... lets (f**king) go.
