This isn't about metrics, it's about a range of factors that affect how teams perform.

This includes the availability of key players, squad cohesion/momentum, coaching and management etc etc.

We are 12 points behind Ipswich and apparently don't have the players to compete with them.
Leeds are 12 points behind Leicester and yet are apprently the best side in the division!

Can you run your metric across this seemingly contradictory pair of positions?
