Sven is the Scandinavean Nigel Worthington!
9 days before the biggest tournament in the world after 5 years in the job and he still doesn't know what his best team or formation is. Thought that 4-5-1 could work well but if we are goping to play it we need more pace and flair in the midfield 5 than we had last night.
We spent most of the game lumping long balls up to (a clearly not match fit) Michael Owen. To Crouch's credit I thought he was very good when he came on (speaking as someone who has said previously i do not think he is up to international football). Maybe he will prove a few of us wrong!
Lampard was totally anonymous - as he often is in my opinion - is it just me that thinks he does not do enough as a midfielder other than score a few goals?
Ashley Cole looks a shadow of the player he was before his injury although hopefully that will improve with a bit more match fitness.
He has caught worthyitis with his determination to play centre backs as the holding player in midfiled or failing that his insistence on picking Owen (Andy Hughes) Hargreaves whenever there is a vacancy anywhere on the field.
Added top that Lennon looks good so we leave him on the bench whilst this ridiculous obsession with Walcott continues. having seen him play 3 times now (twice for England and once live at CR) I still cannot for the life of me see what he has done to deserve his place in the squad and this rise to hero like status he now has with the media. He again did very little last night. maybe a very talented youngster who is one for the future but how he is in ahead of Defoe or Bent i do not know.
All in all I came away last night feeling a lot less confident about our chances than before the game.
Still deep down I still beleieve it will all click and we can win the world cup!
