Oh - that was it - been meaning to ask.......... re TV on your PC

I know there have been threads on this subject fairly recently but I confess I never looked at them as I wasn't interested at the time. However, things change.

So I had a bit of a google on the subject the other day and ended up more confused than when I started. I managed to pull up a lot of conflicting information: so, to save me typing all the things I read, would anyone mind telling me if it's any good and, if so, how (in a nutshell) does it work?

Please take into account that I only rarely switch the telly on - and when I'm round at any of my Sky-buying-mates houses I often flick through the channel lists and can't find much I'd want to look at. More sport'd be good, though, especially horse racing.

If it's worth having, it might be the thing that finally makes me buy broadband.
