and herman the german (really) would bowl up in his schnellywagen and start serving up bratties and frikadellen. the foreign legion was pretty nasty bitd by all accounts but has changed mostly for the better although the officers are still allowed to beat the s**t out of recruits. this is a good read if you haven't done so User Posted Link
