Without the phenomenon of speculation

The entire bloated news media industry would collapse. Pretty much every channel/outlet seems to spend its every waking hour speculating on subjects ranging from the budget/date of a general election to football transfer rumours. It's got so silly with sport that there seems to be page upon page of speculation about the rumours themselves. Time was when the news agencies merely reported on facts that had actually happened. Not any more.
