Unfortunately for Cantwell

There is no room for showboating players (aka luxury players) in the modern game. A few years ago maybe ( Currie, Bowles, Cantona etc) there was room for one in many teams, as they were seen as contributing to the entertainment factor. But as you say, the fancy, attractive stuff in Cantwell's game does not make up for his general ineffectiveness and lack of workrate. There will be the odd game where he is a matchwinner, but the odd game doesn't cut it nowadays.
