right now, as we are roughly at the halfway point of the season.
The top two positions have totally gone and are out of our reach. Even 3rd and 4th are probably not realistic unless we went on an epic winning streak.
So what would it take for us to make the playoffs....
First....table of tilt style...
5th WBA 36 (75.27)
6th Hull 36 (72)
7th Sunderland 33 (69)
8th Preston 33 (66)
9th Watford 31 (64.81)
10th Norwich 31 (64.81)
11th Blackburn 31 (64.81)
12th Cardiff 30 (62.72)
13th Boro 30 (62.72)
14th Bristol 30 (62.72)
While this won't predict exactly where teams will finish
(some will do better some will do worse)
The average strength of the teams has a high correlation.
Meaning it's probably going to take at least 73 points to make the playoffs this year. (most of the normal distribution is in the 69-76 point range for 6th spot.)
So lets say 75 points gives us a great chance of a playoff spot.
We would need 44 points from 24 games or 1.83 PPG
Only the top 4 have achieved better than 1.83 PPG
