They are a poor squad, not up to championship standards, but they gave it their all and came up short.

Hard to argue with that, I think. We seem to be really lacking in the midfield engine room in terms of energy and physical presence. But I think that’s intentional under Wagner’s tactics. He likes us to sit back and hit on the counter or with a long ball over the top to a winger. Problem is, we don’t seem to stop the opposition getting chances when we sit deep, so end up just surrendering territory and letting them have a lot of shots.

I agree with you, there is the makings of a decent team, but we need to add that holding midfielder, and we need to develop our tactics. So overall, Wagner isn’t the man given he is so wedded to this approach.
