If they really think that negativity from the fans affects the players

Then telling the fans this is not the way to bring about positivity. It will just make it worse!

If they really believe that then they should keep it to themselves and show a bit of diplomacy and say, we are sorry for the fans, we need them behind us, it hasn't been good enough, players and manager need to buck their ideas, etc.

Even if you think the fans are too negative, you don't have to say it. Just makes the negativity which you say is the problem worse.

Same with Webber and his divorcees/bedsheet stuff. Just keep it to yourself and try to get fans back onside rather than make it worse.
