...(and thanked his lucky stars that Gallacher was playing blinders so they had an excuse not to put him in for the last few games and risk worsening the injury and putting him out of the England squad. He clearly had been doing light or little training leading up to this game for the same reason. And was perhaps cautious of doing too much pre-match warming-up for fear of not getting on the bench. All adds up to trying to bluff his way into the squad not fully fit (as any pro would do ie. Beckham last time round) and unfortunately for him, being found out.
