I think we understand each other’s perspectives but competition at the highest level ie premier league and championship is a bit of a myth.
Unless a club is backed by £100m+ to start with, even Brentford the competitive element is extremely limited and also the money grabbers league gives the clubs at the top of the premier league an even bigger advantage. Medium sized clubs with medium sized backing are only looking one way and that’s downwards. Limited competition in my book or even none for self funded clubs.
Of the 30, soon to be 32, baseball teams almost a third of the teams have won the World Series in the last 10 years-that’s real competition!
My team the tampa bay rays have reached the World Series with a $80m payroll and teams with over $200m fail to even reach the playoffs.
A genuine competition with 30 teams competing is more competitive than the premier league and the soon to happen European super boring league.
