I'd assumed that's exactly what will happen

Webber, regardless of whether you think he's done a good job or not (and that's not a question!), isn't maliciously trying to f**k the club up.

He's not some evil dictator trying to destroy the club. He's leaving, he'll just want to do an orderly (whatever Knapper wants) handover and climb mountains.

Other than fan perception, I don't see a downside of the handover.
