You need to look at the decision in the context of when it was taken.

Quite rightly the club decided to take their time in recruiting a replacement. In any large organisation replacing a senior executive can take months. At the time they thought that in Webber and Wagner they had a combination that could keep the team performing until the new SD arrived. Most of the fan base thought that the summer signings were positive. This seemed to be borne out by the positive start to the season. I'm sure if the board had a crystal ball and could foresee trhe s**tshow it turned into they would have taken a different approach. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
