We know the deal had add-ons. These are not in the public domain but it is possible that giving him his debut triggers a small clause but removes a greater potential future liability. We’ll probably never know.

He made it clear he was leaving Norwich. There was no benefit to us in playing him at the end of last season. Better to play those who will represent future assets, either playing or financial.
