I think when the Wagner press and counter plan works when it’s all ticking and confidence is high. Then it works REALLY well.
The problem is, if you’re just a bit off, then it works spectacularly badly, like yesterday. We’re piling forward, loads of bodies up front, trying to make it happen. One mistake, easy ball forward and you’ve gifted a really high quality chance to the opposition. Rinse and repeat.
It feels a bit all or nothing, and with injuries to key elements of the formula, I worry that the wheels might really really come off.
